![]() ![]() I had heard about ‘Sleep No More’ from various friends who had gone to see it and just raved about it. Sitting here in the dead of winter, during the pandemic, I have time and time again closed my eyes and “ dreamt I went to Manderley again…” I am dreaming of the time when I can return to New York and see ‘ Sleep No More‘ again. Methought I heard a voice cry, “Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep” – the innocent sleep, Sleep that knits up the raveled sleave of care, The death of each day’s life, sore labor’s bath, Balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course, Chief nourisher in life’s feast. Thank you for supporting the Creative Adventurer* ![]() (PS it is HOT but not overbearing so plan accordingly.) If you are not someone who appreciates story telling through modern dance or art that is somewhat abstract, this is definitely not for you, and while I think it's crazy (based on how much I enjoyed it), I do understand the reviews of the people who say "save your money, this is not for me".I get it, I do - but for ME? This was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in my life.*I may be compensated if you purchase through any affiliate links on this site. No one we saw really was too dressed up and we were in jeans and solid tees so as NOT to stand out and still got chosen - it's about being close and looking engaged - I think the actors probably pick people who they seem like they can trust - I tried to convey that in my posture but who knows haha. There's lots of reviews that say dress crazy or fancy to make you stand out and have this happen. Both my girlfriend and I were chosen for one on one experiences - mine with Lady MacBeth and VERY intense and awesome, and hers with one of the witches. That being said, for the first hour of the experience, it pretty much felt like we had the whole place to ourselves - coming across maybe 50 other people sporadically throughout the night (or the same ten people, which is an added benefit the masks add). (It's different every time though.) First finale it looked like there was maybe 200 people in the building, and then maybe 500 by the end of the last. The finale happens three times as the one hour base story cycles through three times in your three hour session. It's staggered over the night, and you get to really see everyone at the end of each cycle as everyone is kind of ushered into the same room for the "finale". Speaking of letting people in and the size of the crowds and such. I saw one couple specifically split up and I believe that one instance happens every time they let knew people into the experience - just have a plan for where to meet up again if you don't want this to happen. My girlfriend and I managed to stay together the entire time with no issues (granted we weren't obnoxious about it or holding hands, etc) but I do see how it would be easy to get split up. Yes they send you on a wild goose chase up and down flights of stairs (if you choose to follow a specific actor) but I experienced no literal running or chaos and was bumped a handful of times just due to the fact that there's a lot of people, no different than you would be watching a parade at Disney. There's many reviews about people being split from their partners, pushed, forced to run. Also, if you go explore on your own pace, sometimes a scene will end up where you are, and you (without chasing anyone) end up right smack in the front row. There are times where you fall upon a scene when fifty other people are watching and it's hard to see, but there's just as many where it is very intimate. Many people say it's crowded, but I didn't get that feeling until the very very end, and even then (two and a half hours in) I was finding places I hadn't seen before (I honestly think they open up rooms as the night goes on, that you don't have access to off the bat) and witnessing scenes with maybe five other people in the room. ![]() I was getting majorly anxious leading up to it, as it seems insanely polarizing - with a large number of people seeming to say "we bailed before it was over." Here's my opinion: The place is great. They do stay pretty secretive about the whole thing so you end up reading a lot of reviews before you go to try to get the lay of the land. ![]() I've been wanting to do sleep no more for a handful of years, and I finally got the chance to go last night. ![]()
